Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr D. Pitt

This performance course includes:
• Solo and group performance
• Composition
• Aural skills and score reading
• Musical knowledge

Audio Engineering – a strand of Audio Engineering will be offered as an alternative to composition - includes set-up and operation of sound recording and PA equipment. This part of the course runs for two periods a week.

Students create their own course by selecting from the standards listed below.

Future Possibilities
This course leads on to NCEA Level 2 Music. Thereafter to other music courses at universities or polytechnics.

It is advisable to have taken Year 10 Option Music and students must have had at least two years of instrumental tuition.
