Year 9 Art is a core subject for three periods per week for one term of the year.
WHAT THE COURSE WILL COVER:
Students explore a variety of art media, methods and ideas within six fields as time allows: Drawing, Print-Making, Sculpture & Painting, Photography, and ArtDesign.
METHODS OF LEARNING:
The learning process in Art involves experimenting with a range of art making methods, techniques and materials within the particular field, including discovering how and why artists develop their ideas. Students might begin with a drawing that moves into another media, such as Painting, Sculpture or Printmaking. The course is designed to be flexible so that each class will take a direction based on what is right for them. Students have access to a wide range of materials and resources.

Art Extension is offered in terms two and three and is run voluntarily by senior students. A contribution towards this extension activity may be requested, dependent on the activities students wish to pursue. Details can be found in the notices or students can see Mr Soltero for more information.

Art at PHS is a dynamic subject area where students can learn and work with a variety of materials and art making methods to develop their own ideas.

Year 11 The Year 11 course is based around students making independent decisions
Year 12 & 13 Choose from up to five different courses
