ourse is a practical hands-on workshop skills for the construction of quality products with a focus on hand tools and the finishes of the created products.
Materials, may include but not limited to:
Wood
Metal
Plastics
Skills:
Workshop safety
Correct use of tools and equipment
Selection and using different materials to make projects
Following a plan of action and working drawings
Managing time and completing projects to a timeline
Some elements of design
Evaluating the outcome of the product, construction techniques and own skills/ Performance
Projects, may include but are not limited to:
Personal container (box)
Cutting board/ chopping board
Stool
This course helps develop the craft skills for the Year 11 Trades course.
Previous Student results in Technology Department Courses will be factored in when looking at course entry for all year 11 technology courses this is to ensure students are capable of experiencing some level of success for the NCEA credits on offer. For students that have not taken the course prior previous related subjects will be used as a guide. Generally, students will be successful in the year 9 and 10 courses if they complete their project work.
