Year 10 Music - Half Year

You can choose to study Music for a half or full year. This course is the HALF year option.

This year 10 music course is set up to prepare ākonga for further studies in music and touches on skills in performance, aural abilities, theory and composition, music technology and music history. 

Ākonga will have opportunities to participate in and work on…

• Performances as an individual and as a member of class groups

• Extracurricular groups, tours, festivals, competitions and trips

• Recording studio sessions to create recordings of composed works and live performances

• Exploring the use of Tāonga Pūoro in music and composition

• Building a solid foundation of the fundamentals of music and theory

Although learning an instrument is not a prerequisite to join year 10 music, it is encouraged that ākonga take advantage of the incredible itinerant music scheme we have at Papanui High School.
