Students investigate historical forces that have shaped the modern world. The main theme studied in this course are Genocides
Possible case studies include:
• The Holocaust
• Cambodia and Pol Pot
The course leads to further study and research in the Social Sciences, particularly History in Year 13 and beyond. History is an excellent grounding for careers in journalism, law, publishing, broadcasting, management, teaching and any job requiring developed communication and investigative skills.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
$10 for course workbooks and possible field trip expenses
Recommended Prior Learning
Students need to have achieved in Level 1 History or English or Semester 1 of a Level 2 Social Science to be eligible to enter HIY21S History.
Total Credits Available: 14 credits.
Externally Assessed Credits: 9 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 5 credits.
