Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr P. Peawini
The Fitness Instructor semester requires students to learn about muscle groups and systems targeted by exercises and demonstrate correct form in all standard resistance training and free standing exercises. This unit standard is designed for people who will, under general supervision, demonstrate exercise techniques and assist clients and client groups in fitness activity.
Assessment
All assessment by internally assessed Unit Standards.
Future Possibilities: Students who complete this course can move into tertiary study at New Zealand Institute of Sport or Ara Institute of Canterbury and careers within the sport, recreation and fitness industry. These could include but are not limited to fitness instruction, personal trainer, gym instruction, after school and holiday programmes, coaching and Armed Services.

$10 for fitness classes
Recommended Prior Learning
• Reasonable attainment of Level 2 NCEA credits is recommended.
• SPL22S and SPO22S are an advantage but not essential.
• Performance in SPL22S and SPO22S will be taken into consideration for enrolling in SPF32S.
• Commitment to the demands of this course inside and outside of school hours.

Total Credits Available: 8 credits.
