This course requires 2 options.
MEDIA 31F - Full Year

In MEDIA 31F, students will gain knowledge, skills, and experience to:
- apply understanding of media conventions and technology to create media.
- design and plan a short film or documentary
- pitch ideas to a real live audience
- write a script for a short film or documentary
- and produce a short film or documentary
Plus, if students intend to use MED31F as one of their approved UE subjects, students must sit and pass the external assessment to gain the required 14 credits.
This course prepares students for studying media and communication, Broadcasting school, film production, magazine production, media design, general media production and future study/career in a media-related industry.
Note: students can also take Year 13 English as a further subject if they wish.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
A visual diary, post-its, and a USB. Your own device will be helpful but is not compulsory.
Recommended Prior Learning
The writing demands of film production (design and plan, script writing) require successful completion of any of the following courses to gain entry into Year 13 Media:
Media21F or English21F or DTM21F or DTP21F
Students new to Media, should apply for entry to the TIC of Media, Ms. Helen MacGougan.
Total Credits Available: 17 credits.
Externally Assessed Credits: 4 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 13 credits.
Approved subject for University Entrance
Number of credits that can be used for overall endorsement: 17
Only students engaged in learning and achievement derived from Te Marautanga o Aotearoa are eligible to be awarded these subjects as part of the requirement for 14 credits in each of three subjects.
