This course is designed to introduce the fundamentals of the Material World and how these materials interact with each other. It puts emphasis on developing the tools needed to observe, quantify and explain chemical interactions. This course provides a sound basis for further study in Chemistry.

There is a possibility of a field trip to the University of Canterbury Chemistry Department.
