AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING 22F - Full Year

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr B. Dalkie.

An industry level pre-trade automotive course that consists of both classroom and onsite workshop exams in Avon City Training Services (Sockburn) who coordinate the whole course. 

Areas of assessment: 

  • Motor vehicle systems and components 
  • Vehicle servicing 
  • Workshop equipment
  • Engine strip and reassemble
  • Automotive trade structure  
  • Wheels and tyres

Students will be selected on the following criteria:

  • Ability to complete the course - Students will be required to successfully complete the first classroom based exam to gain enrollment into further standards 
  • Proven record of attendance - Student need to attend onsite assessment days and failure to attend may result in removal from the course. 
  • Genuine interest in the automotive industry - This is a self paced course that requires independent study with teacher guidance to gain credits through unit exams

It is expected that successful students will achieve between 21-29 unit standard credits during the course.  The standards listed below are a sample of those available and will give an idea of the variety offered within this course.

NB: Students who show the above attributes are favorably considered for the Automotive Trades Academy Course (Dual Enrolment).


Recommended Prior Learning

Students that are enrolled in Year 11 Trades and have successfully completed the automotive standards from that year.

New students require a proven track record for attendance and engagement. Approval is up to the Head of Techology.
