9WSD – 9 Technology – Workshop Design – 1 Semester
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr D. Greenwood.
Workshop Design is a course that teaches students fundamentals within the workshop setting. Students will predominately learn the use of hand tools and learn introductory skills with fixed machines. Students will create various projects using a range of materials, mainly wood and some use of metals and or plastics.
Student projects will largely be set designs with some elements that the students can design/personalise.
Student results from both years 9 and 10 courses will be factored in when looking at course entry for year 11 Technology courses this is to ensure students are capable of experiencing some level of success for the NCEA credits on offer. Generally, students will be successful in the year 9 and 10 courses if they complete their project work.
Recommended Prior Learning
All Year 9 students will study at least one of the six technology courses offered
