9DNC – Year 9 Dance – More than Tik Toks! – 1 Semester

This half year course will give you the opportunity to extend and expand your dance performance and creation skills. Increasing fitness, exploring creativity in groups and trying new styles, this course provides a solid foundation for continuing on to do Dance through to Year 10 and NCEA. 

The course may include but is not limited to:

• Digital dance - a lot of the dance we are exposed to now is either digital through social media, YouTube or online concerts. Exploring the use of body angle and architecture this topic will explore site specific dance work that is designed for the camera
• Musical Theatre - you will explore some of the components of musical theatre dance and learn a performance with your class
• 3 styles - You will choose three different styles of dance (choosing from hip-hop, salsa, ballet, contemporary, tutting, poi, sasa) to research and perform from
