Course Description

Horticulture and the Land
This course provides an introduction to horticulture and plant growth. It focuses primarily on the practical skills associated with raising plants.
Topics include:
•Practical management of plant growth and development
•Produce a landscape plan
•Plant propagation techniques (Commercial and Personal)
The students may select from practical and theoretical standards that relate to plant propagation and student will NOT complete all standards listed below, but 2-3 will be selected from the list and students can expect to attempt a maximum of 10 credits.
Future Possibilities
Agricultural, Horticultural, Viticulture industry training courses.
Please note: This course may run in conjunction as a combined AGS/HTS course depending on student enrolment numbers. In this case a combination of Agricultural and Horticultural standards will be assessed. These may come from Primary Industry unit standards or Agricultural and Horticultural Science Achievement Standards
Recommended Prior Learning
Students are recommended to have gained at least 12 credits in Level 1 Science achievement standards if the wish to pursue the achievement standards.
