9IND – 9 Technology – Industrial Design – 1 Semester

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr D. Greenwood.

Industrial Design is a technology driven course where students will design and build electronic and small-scale projects that utilise 3D printing, laser cutting, soldering circuit boards and other mediums. Students will learn design skills and create their own designs for a range of projects. Sound designs, clock projects and more! Projects will be influenced by student interest in the class.   

 

Example: A torch project, where students create the circuit with soldering, design, 3D print and laser-cut the casing and buttons with the option to etch a design into the lens. 

Student results from both years 9 and 10 will be factored in when looking at course entry for year 11 Technology courses this is to ensure students are capable of experiencing some level of success for the NCEA credits on offer. Generally, students will be successful in the year 9 and 10 courses if they complete their project work.

Recommended Prior Learning

All Year 9 students will study at least one of the six technology courses offered

Technology contribution - $50.00. This covers the full year of technology study
