AQUATICS 32S - Semester
Teacher in Charge: Miss J. Rutherford
The Aquatics semester involves completing the Austswim Award. The award is a combination of theory and practical swimming activities culminating in a 20-hour practicum. The SPA32S students will teach junior PHS students, children involved with Aquatic programmes at local pools, ten hours in their own time, after school and shadowing at the Graham Condon Pool.
It is an internationally recognised qualification and is useful for those attending Camp America.
All assessments are Unit Standards and are internally assessed.
Students that complete the Austswim Award can work as Swim Instructors at any swimming pool in New Zealand.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
Students will be required to purchase a plain rash top to wear in lessons and teaching sessions.
