Year 10 Food Technology - Half Year

Course Description

This course is to inspire you to be able to make simple delicious recipes from food that you may have otherwise thrown away. 

Households in New Zealand throw away about $1520 worth of food per year. You will develop skills to turn bread into bread cases or cheese rolls, make muffins, pancakes or create a stir fry enabling you to make choices to protect the planet and your pocket. The learning journey includes discovery of Aotearoa entrepreneurs who have embraced current environmental and social concerns and promoted them through the values of kaitiaki and manaakitanga. In groups you will model your food and/or packaging idea which should capture this vision.


This course will give you a good grounding of understanding for future study in Year 11 Food & Nutrition or Year 11 Hospitality.
